Woot finally got my computer back after months and months of it being broken! Recently I've been so bummed about all the Borders stores closing. It is crazy to see how picked over all the stores were just when things were 20% off... I mean, Borders constantly had coupons for 33% off with 40% off ones pretty frequently too, sometimes even 50% off and with the stores closing you couldn't use any coupons. So I was really surprised that as soon as everything was 20% off so much of the store inventory was gone. It was pretty sad seeing books just tossed all over the place, especially when I spotted a few I had worked on.

Went to one of the bigger stores today that had an upper level, but it was closed off and what they had left didn't fill up even half of the lower level. So now there's only going to be one left in my area, which thankfully isn't too far away. There's still B&N, but I enjoyed being able to use coupons at Borders to get discounted books at Borders so I could buy even more books! Plus, Borders always seemed to have a wider selection of books that I'm interested in than B&N for some reason. I bought a book today and almost cried out when the employee took a huge Sharpie marker to the back of the book. ; A ; I like to collect books and keep them in good condition, but whatever, I'll get over it! Anyone read anything good lately?

I promise to send something handmade to the first 6 people who leave a comment here. They in turn must post this statement and send something they make to the first 6 people who comment on their blog post.

The only other rules are that:

1) it must be handmade by you and,
2) it must be sent to your 6 people sometime within 2011.

Lina Inverse Model [05 Sep 2010|12:59am]
Can anyone translate this? Well not the whole thing, but I see it says garage kit, but then the poster also says something about a plastic model and color cast. I am no good at garage kits and am not going to spend $100+ on something I have to put together and paint myself, only for it to come out looking like crap! But if they make this into a plastic model I must have it!

Business Cards + Bookmarks? [25 Aug 2009|02:13pm]
[ mood | angry ]

Does anyone know of an affordable place to get business cards and bookmarks, preferably with rounded edges that isn't overnightprints.com?

I've been using overnightprints.com for several years and the quality used to be amazing. But recently my cards just don't look the same. They reprinted my cards several times and each time there was something different that was wrong: the illustration would be grainy, the colors would be way off, not all the colors were visible, there were white chunks near the sides of the card even though it was set up properly within the bleed.

I noticed that recently the cards had been coming from KY and originally the awesome cards I got were from CA. So I asked if they could have my cards printed at the CA location and I was told that location is closed and if I wanted my cards to look like what was printed there, that I have to buy the "premium" cards which are twice the price. So now I have to pay double to get my cards looking like what they used to.

I've been dealing with one person in customer service for a while and sometimes when I try to write them someone else will respond by not even answering my question or giving me my refund. Last week I sent back another batch of shitty cards and customer service said they would refund me what I paid on the last order, plus a refund from an order before I used on the last order, another $10 off coupon since I used one on this order and the cards were messed up, and upgrade my shipping because I need the cards now and I would just pay the difference for the premium cards.

Tracking shows the cards arrived back at their office so I write customer service. No response. Write a few days later, still no response. Write again and someone different responds offering me only a partial credit that not only didn't include the coupon and upgraded shipping code, but not even the complete total that I had paid out of pocket on the previous order that was screwed up even though I attached the e-mail from the customer service representative that listed the credit I would receive.

I'm just really getting tired of dealing with them, but is there any other services out there that are affordable?

Roller Derby Zombie [24 Aug 2009|06:44pm]
[ mood | accomplished ]

Click for full-view! 12" x 18" poster of my roller derby zombie girl that will be for sale shortly. For textures I dyed paper with tea and soy sauce.

Saw The Orphan, Ponyo, The Collector, and District 9 recently (call MNU at 1-866-666-6001 to report sightings of non-humans) with friends and they were all good movies and a lot of fun! Been playing a lot of Killer Bunnies lately and working on artwork. Went to a gay bar over the weekend with some friends and Dustin sang "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" at karaoke and danced around and made everyone laugh so hard everyone's faces started to hurt.
